Is Burron Banton a legend dancehall artists a brother from another mother to American rapper Jay Z? No wonder Jigga had dem links.
Is Soldier Boy the secret love child of Shinehead's early tours?
For those of you that do not know who Shinehead is. He was best known for his remake of Sting's "Englishman in New York" he remade that song as "Jamaican in New York", he also had a wealth of other hits. Known for his personal style and signature sunglasses he got his start in the 1980s, most notably Tony Screw's Downbeat The Ruler, based in the Bronx.

This afternoon I was browsing around one of the blogs I read from time to time.

Assa Cisse has a love for African fashion and is doing her part in promoting it with her blog. Today I saw a new Post for Angola Fashion Week, so being me I clicked on it. After viewing the pics and reading the article I decided to go to the website of the designer who's work I was viewing.
Lalesso was the name of the brand and I mention them just as a point of reference.
Some people use other people as a muse or reference for designing. Some ppl create ideas and
concepts out of silence. Some ideas, especially ideas made out of recycling or being conservative and eco friendly, can often be created by people that have no idea of each others existence.
When I thought of the concept of making these rope chains and bracelets it was actually a part of a bigger project that tied into the colonialism of textile. The ropes was my concept of how Africa is still under colonial control with majority of sought out and branded fabrics being manufactured in Europe.
Is was with great surprise to see the rope chain on the Angola Fashion Week,World Cup Opening Ceremony and also crochet style.
Is the Rope having a comeback?

A couple weeks ago I made reference to Beyonce getting influenced by Iris Chacon etc etc
Original Sexy Mama! look for it on blog!!
Often times I will go back and show you the reader where someone may possibly get inspiration from not all the tim
e it will be easy but things that interest me I may make reference to. Take for instance the Lada Gaga Dress made of meat, so many ppl spoke on the dress but no blog I reviewed gave any info regarding posible inspiration.
The pics posted shows the wide variety that Ami Goodheart of SOTO Productions and 15 other designers took the concept.
Hunger Pains was the project name and it was shot in 09 Jan pre-Gaga
Everything was made of food that the person was craving.

I was not that surprised today to find signed statements online of so many dancehall artists whose lyrics was not given a "bly" under the Freedom of Speech Act.
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation, or both. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to indicate not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on "hate speech".
Many dancehall artists are being put in uncompromising positions of either signing the agreement, or risk the chance of having there shows cancelled by promoters in cities across the world.
While the agreement actually calls for artists to only sing a certain type of music in Reggae, I find it quite compelling. Personally I can do without hearing any songs regarding a homosexual in any aspect. Why write an entire song dedicated to homosexuality whether it is bashing or not? Within all the songs from all of the artist that signed the petition, I can actually say honestly. I can not recall any hate songs that leave a lasting impression. That genre of dancehall is made specifically for the sound clash party attitude, it is music to get a reaction out of people. It music for that moment, it is already created with the intention of not lasting long and to be marketed to specific individuals.
In closing I would go on in saying that the artists that have been coxed into deciding to sign this agreement, can look at this from another point.
"Make music not limiting your writing skill to small subject matter such as this"

" "I wanna be loved".
cause "Circumstances" has made me who I am.
"African Pride", "Champion" ,who rules his "Destiny".
Its "Not and easy road" for a "Bad Bwoy" but,
"Negus Negast", "Give I strength".
Can't hear my "Mother Cry"
On a "Rampage", refuse to be the "Only Man",
a "Murderer" has "No Respect"
these are just "Untold Stories" of "Wicked Acts" and "Tribal War"
tired of "Sleepless Nights" "Redder than Red" at the "Immigration Law"
"Boom Bye Bye" cause "How the World a Run"
Seems like "Operation Ardent" is in full effect with "No Respect",
dem need fe stop and check, when dem a sleep we a patrol.
But if "Loving was a Crime" and "If Jah was like man"
"Hills and Valleys" would also have an "Optimistic Soul"
Is this the turn of a "Rasta Revolution" can someone "Lend a Hand" and please "Make my Day"
"Life" is full of "Complaint" but I am truly "Innocent"
"Deportees" no call me name, no spread no rumor I'm a "Vigilante".
"Dem sell Out" thought dem woulda tuffa then that "Informer"
All he wants is "Justice" unno "Quick" just "A little more time"
"Till i'm laid to rest" I will forever be a "Top a Top"
ah "WHO DEM!!!!!!" GARGAMEL COME HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

So when most on the mainland of US think of a bikes we are thinking of fashionable bike with "X" in the middle or how limited a name brand made a bike. Some think about the speed and high end market value of a bike. I myself like to consider something ecofriendly and sustainable. I have managed to source a few videos via youtube hope you enjoy.
Hey no one said the last video Bamboo Bike by Craig Calfee
Bamboo bikes made in US would be cost effective to everyones budget..lol

I was introduced to Eton years ago in London by my uncle and clothing connoisseur.
For many years I always respected the craftsmanship that goes into each and every shirt.
This is not some trendy designer shirt based on mass production.
Eton's beginnings go back to 1928 in the little village of Ganghester, Sweden. Annie and David Pettersson created their first made-to-measure shirts.
Their success allowed the Peterson's to take the business out of Annie's kitchen and to expand into the UK and eventually globally. Built on traditional values Annie's philosophy was to never hand over an item until completely satisfied. With a foundation as such Eton foundation has been solid. Today Eton still remains a family based company owned and operated by there grandson Hans Davidson.
The opening of this store marks an important milestone for Eton. Our loyal New York customers have asked us time and again for a location in the city. We are thrilled to offer them the full breadth of our collection in this fantastic neighborhood," explains Hans Davidson, President at Eton.
Set to open Dec 13,2010
625 Madison Avenue and 58th Street. This store promises to become a new Mecca for the city's most discriminating consumers just as it has throughout Europe.
Hailing from the British Virgin Islands is Mickey Monroe, to some they would call her a Picasso of make up. Her unorthodox ways and techniques is what truly makes her an artists first and make up stylists second. Artists tend to do things that professionals would do,
but in a very unconventional way.
"MICKEY I NEVER KNEW EYESHADOWS COULD DO ALL THAT"!.
Take a sec and check out her work then join her fan page on facebook.

Where and how one is inspired comes from so many different influences. Some ppl create in silence some recreate what was already made, and some create visionary stimulation or sounds.
For myself I create in my own way it is like a current that flows through my body and once I feel it I am ready to work. It's like the way this music is when Count Ossie's daughter feels the music her body just reacts.
Have a wonderful Inspirational week.
When you mix texture technique and patterns you can get such beautiful pieces. I would like to thank my friend and comrade Pita, and Daniel for reminding me of the simple things. About mixing a palette and creating color about finding that inner spirit and allowing ones to get a small peak into that world. Give thanks as my journey of patterns have begun once again.
Now here is another designer I respect on that journey. Marianne Fassler her journey of course spans 2 decades but hope you can enjoy small visual treat.
visit her website for more information.

Today marks a day of excitement for me as the 6th Mozambique Fashion Week begins today.
With 28 young designers, who would not be excited to see the creative innovation about to be showcased. Along with the young designers will be international designers and established African designers set to show on the last days of the event which runs from the 6-11th. I'm not speaking on any particular designer yet as I still want to see what the young ones have to offer.
Visit the blog and join the facebook page for updates.

I first meet Romina Karamanea on myspace in 05. I fell in love with her work. Once I saw the complexity of the pattern making and just her flawless innovation and technique I was sold, not to mention the glasses lok her up.

We are talking about a time when Beyonce and Rhianna was babies.
This is why in the 80's I would stay up late night Friday and Saturday.
This is who set the standard and everything else was just a copy.
This is why I am not impressed with all the humbug of today.
I've seen it all already.

Sometimes you meet people and they are a little off and you can't figure it out.
Its the artists within, almost like they live in the spirit like some non existent beings.
This is how I can describe this crew of seven.
Big up Mc StaHHr for sending me the trk.
Not really a blog follower myself.
I actually like to to get lost online and find things on my own.
I recently stumbled up on a blog and these kids are dope had to make mention to them and what they do.
So what really brought me to liking these kids was there personal style and unique way of how they blend the prep and street.
This was how we use to dress cause we went to private school but was not stuck up kids so I can totally relate to this style. Funny how whats old comes back again and with a bang. I also like how these kids know what an actual prockpie hat is and who porkpie was, then they used some African fabric on the hat...NICE TOUCH!... Must be of some Caribbean heritage or got a Guyanese friend some where. Yo big ups to what you do and keep it original always
Bless
