The profound reasoning behind the humble yet arrogant Nigerian artists,
Has smitten me and I am once again in love.
With the world I forged a relationship with many many years ago.
She wakes me up in the middle of the night and reminds me that I did not travel thousands of
miles away from home to not bless the world with my magnetic presence.
She whispers sweet chocolate covered lies in my ears,
lusting after my imagination and seducing me with her visions.
She gets so excitible when I begin to brainstorm and then with a blink of the eye she
disappears.
But she has given me just enough that's all I need.
INSPIRATION
Finding the right Crown is often a very painstaking task for someone like myself. I am not the type of individual that can just put anything on one of the highest points of my being. Your crown is situated at the very highest point of your skull, this point is also where heat can escape from your body. For me I have always felt a need to protect this part of myself. This is why I can not express how important it is to not only have my crown handmade but also have a personal relationship with the person that is building that crown. This is why I could never just buy a crown from anyone especially a crown mass produced overseas.
When I got the concept of this crown I decided to go to Little Five Points in Atlanta Ga and check an elder brethren by the name of Simeon. According to the Hebrew bible and 12 Tribes Doctrine the Tribe of Simeon are known to Hearken and Listen, so he is naturally going to be one of the best people to come see if you have a prior concept. Simeon has also been making leather works for as long as I have been on the planet so his experience is bar to none. Besides all of that almost every other elder that I know was also taught the trade by Simeon, so why not go to the teacher?
We began to reason on the concept and right away he get a glow it is the kind of glow an artists is familiar with, one gets when you have said something intriguing and not only do they overstand the challenge but respect the idea as it is innovative. He told me soft and clear " I got it don't worry yourself" So I begin the search for the fabrics I would like to use, I found and ostrich skin and snake skin "diamond back" and decided that I would ask him to combine the fabrics. The results was aprofessionally made Crown suited for a King with detailed trim and lacing techniques that show a wide knowledge of Mexican and his own style fused together. Expert blocking and millinery skills any millinery designer would be highly impressed with.
One thing that I have learned with many artists is you have to ask for what you want don't just look on the walls and assume that what you see is all you can get. Most of the times that artists is waiting for you to ask, just know what you want and allow the artists to price the product, remember this kind of handwork is Rare and original work that should always be compensated.

Before we started Samsara we ran a business called O.N.C.E. Foundation. This was a business that we started also while at F.S.U. One Nation Called Ethiopia. The business was based on importing rare and endemic pieces from across the continent. We also sold very unique pieces and collectibles.
One such piece was a Zulu Shield, this shield was made popular by Shaka Zulu who The new shield that Zulu introduced was made of cowhide and taught each warrior to use the shields left side to hook the enemies shield to the right, exposing his ribs for a clear spear stab. Shaka then made the shield longer and heavier and had them protected my the Inyanga (spiritual doctor).
Ok your probably wondering what in the world does this have to do with Samsara and how it relates to what we are doing now. My latest inspiration came from that Zulu Shield and how better to pay homage to Shaka and the Zulu warriors by making a one of a kind Zulu Shield Earrings.
This time cow hide and mud is of the old, under Samsara the Zulu shield is made of Sterling Silver and African Fabric.
This is going to be a beginning of something extremely fabulous and fun. What I hope one will get from these glasses are not just the creative and fashionable essence, but the underline concept and reality that the world we live in now has fused together.

I felt this idea a few years ago but did not really develop much with it. I decided to use some of this years hibernation process to my advantage. Visual Stimulation is beginning to ooze out of every pore of Samsara's molecular structure. We've had these types of ideas stored away in our subconscious for so long. Its time to start cleaning out ideas and making room for the new ones. First in First out as my Accounting teacher would say, this university knowledge has got to be good for something.

When I meet Pose a couple years ago I had no idea he was a graffiti legend. Then one year I came by his San Diego Flat and was so inspired by what I saw. Not only was his work legendary but it was like- I knew it, like I was there on those late night creeps on the East Coast feeling the adrenaline rush. Sitting on the trains zoning in and zoning out with the inspirational fumes from the a can of Krylon that inspire the madd skillz. I knew Pose would see the concept and together it would be manifested.
You guys will have to wait for the finished product to be released , but you will be the first to know when it comes out.

Terms has a very unique way of combining the modern and antique look with a high graffiti ideas and intergalactic symbolism.
The project we worked on together was something that has been in back of the mind for quite some time. The reasoning that we did just manifested the concept into a reality. Iron sharpens Iron is said from when one can sharpen another, I think the piece we have made will definitely sharpen our limited tee shirts to another level. Soon to come spr/sum2011.
